The Shakers were among the first to prepackage garden seeds for
sale to the general public. The products were shipped to general stores
throughout the United States in “Seed Boxes” which were also used
as counter displays.
The Shaker seed boxes in this collection represent an on-going effort
to document, reproduce, and interpret the industry. Construction and
finish techniques copy the original and all labels are authentically
reproduced. Each Shaker seed box is hinged with leather, dated, numbered,
and signed. |
