Like Shaker oval carriers, rectangular carriers come in a variety of sizes. Shown here is a reproduction of a small delicate carrier originally made in the mid 1800s (probably from one of the New England Shaker villages). This small carrier was used as a sewing accessory. It measures 5 ½" wide, 3 ½" deep, and 2 ½" high (5 ¼" high at the handle). Shellac finish.
